Sentinel Dome

I now live about 30 minutes away from Yosemite. My friend Tyler once described Yosemite as “the pearl of California.” Well put Tyler, well put.

My coworkers and I piled into as few cars as possible and made the twisty drive to the south gate of Yosemite. We turned north, then west, and north again. Finally we crested a hill and pulled into the trail head for Sentinel Dome. We unloaded, and hiked.

We marched along the trail as the sun slowly receded to our left. Our goal was to reach the top of the dome by sunset.

From atop Sentinel Dome you get a 360 degree view of some of the choicest attractions Yosemite has to offer, including El Capitan and Half Dome.IMG_7510 IMG_7534 IMG_7578 IMG_7539

Sometimes I think to myself that Half Dome is overrated. I’m a fool. Half Dome sits perfectly sculpted within the bed of the Sierras. It’s majestic to say the least.

Yosemite always reminds me of how nature exists to dazzle us, and the worst thing we can do is take this creation for granted.
