A few months ago some friends and I went surfing and we listened to that one song about walking 500 miles and then 500 more at least 7 times on the drive to the beach. I then spent the entire time trying to wash that song out of my ear. Another time my teammates and I were watching the sun rise over the mountains our way to a cycling road race and that one pop song about finding love in a hopeless place graced our speakers, and I suffered through 30 miles with the chorus on repeat.
What you listen to right before setting out on an adventure is a huge decision. Whether you’re about to spend the day kicking up dirt on a trail, paddling into overhead swell, or descending mountain passes, there’s always that one song that plays over and over in your mind.
So with that, I argue that we all have a designated playlist on our iPods that is exclusively used for the drives to adventures, and is full of awesome and inspiring songs. May an annoying song never grace our internal radios again whilst we adventure!
